Interim report for Q3 2000 - euromicron AG exceeds operational forecasts
euromicron AG, Frankfurt/Main, an international supplier in the fiber optics and energy management sectors, continued its outstanding business development during the first nine months of fiscal year 2000. Sales in particular increased by 29.4% on the same period of the previous year to DM 241.5 million (previous year: DM 186.6 million). The company increased its income from operations by 80.5% on 1999 to DM 22.2 million.
This positive operational development has enabled the company to cover the costs of ongoing restructuring and the investments made in the course of the company's strategic reorientation. These costs caused a 8.9% reduction in EBIT as of September 30, 2000 to DM 15.4 million (previous year: DM 16.9 million). The US GAAP consolidated earnings before income tax (EBT) totaled DM 10.7 million (previous year: DM 12.3 million). The earnings per share were adjusted in line with these figures to DM 0.87 (previous year: DM 1.10).
According to euromicron's Managing Board, all of the one-time charges resulting from the restructuring measures are non-recurring and will contribute to the company's success in light of the sale of the energy management companies and interests.
The company's operating earnings in 2000 will be used for this purpose, allowing the company to push ahead with its aggressive growth strategy in the fiber optics business area in its three business units - Components and Assembly, Project Business and Trade and Services - without this strategy being negatively affected by any one-time charges.
euromicron AG's customers and shareholders in particular will gain long-term benefit from the company's transformation from an all-encompassing industrial holding company to a future-oriented technology group.
