One document

Already in its 17th year, the Rapid.Tech 3D specialist conference is once again inviting the additive manufacturing sector to Messe Erfurt, where it expects to welcome more than 1,000 participants to this leading European event between 5 and 7 May, 2020, with ten specialist forums looking at all aspects of professional 3D printing. Scientists, developers, designers and users from Germany and abroad are invited to present their latest research results, innovations and practical examples.

Presentations can be submitted for ten different sessions, including the established forums on Medical, Dental and Orthopaedic Technology; Tool, Model & Mould Making; Aviation; and Automotive & Mobility, which will focus on the latest developments in those sectors. There are also new forums covering the increasingly wide range of applications for AM: Energy; Living at Home/Interiors/Design in the Consumer Goods Market; the Future; and Basics in Additive Manufacturing (AM). The Future forum focuses in particular on developments in construction, architecture and 3D-printed electronics, while Basics in AM aims to put insiders and newcomers on an equal footing as regards information, and uses models, components, and industry solutions to provide practical illustrations of the basics of additive manufacturing processes. Interested parties can register presentation topics for these eight sessions with Messe Erfurt by 20 January, 2020. (The form and further information can be found at www.rapidtech-3d.de/fachkongress/call-for-papers) Entries will be evaluated and selected for the above forums by an Advisory Board of experts from industry, research and practical application.

The AM Science and Software/Processes/Design forums will continue to be an integral part of the conference programme. Contributions for these forums will be subject to a scientific quality assurance process (double-blind review of abstract and full paper) before being accepted into the programme. Presentations must be registered with a full abstract of ten A4 pages by the submission deadline of 12 February, 2020. (Form also available at www.rapidtech-3d.de/fachkongress/call-for-papers)

For contributions that form part of the conference program, full abstracts of 10 to 14 DIN A4 pages can be created for inclusion in the digital conference proceedings. All abstracts submitted will also be included in the Rapid.Tech 3D 2020 printed proceedings, which will be published under an ISBN number. Each presentation can thus be considered a scientific publication.

The Rapid.Tech 3D programme once again includes the 3D Pioneers Challenge (3DPC) international design competition, with the finalists presenting their projects in Erfurt for the fifth time. The award is aimed at 3D enthusiasts, professionals, developers and lateral thinkers, from colleges, universities and industry or engineering and design institutes, who think outside the box all around the world. The search is on for pioneering products, concepts and services created by 3D printing in the categories of architecture, design, digital, fashion tech, materials, medical tech, mobility and sustainability. A new competition category for 2020 is electronics, which, in addition to systems integration, also requires new materials.

The prize of EUR 35,000 is donated by the Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society. This makes the 3D Pioneers Challenge one of the world's best funded design competitions for innovation in additive manufacturing processes. Partners of the 3DPC, such as Autodesk, Makerbot, Fusion 360 and NetFabb, are also funding other prizes. Renowned and internationally recognized experts from the fields of design, application and industry have been recruited for the multi-stage judging process.

Anyone who is interested is invited to submit their project by 1 March, 2020. Students and young professionals participate free of charge. All information for entrants, application documents and online sign-in and registration are available at www.3dpc.io

Under the motto, "Understanding.Seeing.Experiencing", Rapid.Tech 3D 2020 brings providers and users of additive manufacturing technology together with even greater focus. Alongside the specialist conference, companies and research institutions will be presenting innovative products and technologies in a specialist exhibition and display. In addition, a range of networking formats will provide attendees with the opportunity to exchange ideas face-to-face and initiate projects.

Some 4,500 visitors from 27 countries travelled to Erfurt for the 2019 event to attend the specialist conference and see presentations by 180 exhibitors from twelve countries. 83 per cent of exhibitors said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their trade fair experience.
