Sustainability is the overarching theme of the Rapid.Tech 3D specialist conference 2021

Call for papers launched - Talks can now be submitted for nine specialist forums - The deadlines are 4 December 2020 and 4 January 2021
For the first time ever, the programme for the renowned Rapid.Tech 3D specialist conference will have an overarching theme: sustainability is the golden thread that will run through all of the forums in the programme from 4 to 6 May 2021. Scientists, developers, engineers and users from Germany and abroad are invited to present their latest research findings, product innovations and examples from practice, and to show how additive manufacturing (AM) can have a positive impact on the sustainable use of resources. "In 2020, we have all had to find out the hard way how important sustainability is, in the sense of being able to act unaffected by disruptive factors to the greatest possible extent. During the pandemic, AM has proven to be a key technology in realising quick and efficient solutions in healthcare or industry, for instance. That's why we are making this potential and these diverse possible applications that can promote sustainable economic activity in almost all sectors the focus of this year's congress," explains Michael Kynast, CEO of Messe Erfurt GmbH.
Against this background, three new subject areas have been added to the existing forums. New on the agenda for 2021 are the forums AM in Construction Engineering & Architecture, Design and News from AM. The forum AM in Construction Engineering & Architecture addresses the advantages of generative processes for the realisation of complex forms, along with highly flexible resource-efficient and cost-effective construction. The Design forum explores the paradigm shift that has taken place in the product design process with 3D printing. Limited and individualised production is now quick, resource-efficient and inexpensive, even with a batch size of one. The News from AM forum will look to the future of additive manufacturing, focusing on processes and materials that surpass the technologies currently in use but are already well suited to practical application. The programme will also feature the established forums Automotive & Mobility; Aviation; Medical, Dental & Orthopaedic Technology; Software, Processes & Design, and Tool, Model & Mould-making. The latest developments in the respective sectors will be presented in these forums.
Interested candidates have until 4 December 2020 to register their talks for the eight forums with Messe Erfurt. (Form and further information available at: https://www.rapidtech-3d.de/fachkongress/call-for-papers.html) An Advisory Board formed of experts from industry, research and practice will assess the submissions and select the talks for the above forums.
A firm fixture of the 17th Rapid.Tech 3D specialist conference is the AM Science forum. Talks for the forum are subject to scientific quality assurance in the form of a double-blind review before being accepted on to the programme. Scientific publications must be six to ten A4 pages long and must be submitted by 4 January 2021. (Form also available at: www.rapidtech-3d.de/fachkongress/call-for-papers)
In another new development for 2021, the conference will also be hosted digitally, enabling speakers to reach an even wider audience with their ideas.
The physical presence of exhibitors at the Rapid.Tech 3D exhibition is an essential element of the event, and the first businesses from central and southern Germany have already registered. Those wishing to benefit from the early-bird prices should register by 30 November 2020. Further information is available at: https://www.rapidtech-3d.de/aussteller/anmeldung-preise.html
