Schaeffler at the IAA 2017: Angela Merkel visits Schaeffler at IAA trade show
Main (ots)
At the International Motor Show Frankfurt, the leading trade show for mobility, Chancellor Angela Merkel got an overview of Schaeffler's innovative solutions for the mobility of the future.
Shareholder Georg F. W. Schaeffler greeted Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Schaeffler trade show booth at the International Motor Show IAA. Mr. Schaeffler accompanied the Chancellor on part of her official tour of the trade show together with Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler AG, and Matthias Zink, CEO Automotive.
As part of its strategy "Mobility for tomorrow", Schaeffler will be presenting a holistic and sustainable approach that includes the entire well-to-wheel chain from the generation and storage of energy, through to mobile energy use in environmentally-friendly vehicle drives at this year's IAA. As an integrated automotive and industrial supplier, Schaeffler is positioned along the entire energy chain and has defined a correspondingly broad product portfolio.
The Chancellor was interested in the large-size bearing of a wind power generator - a contribution from Schaeffler in the field of renewable energies. Schaeffler bearings with optimized friction characteristics and condition monitoring are fitted in many of the wind turbines installed in Germany.
Schaeffler develops customized products for environmentally-friendly vehicle and drive concepts. With the latest generation of the electric axle, which is being presented at the IAA, the automotive supplier has developed, for example, a modular system solution for hybrid vehicles and all-electric cars in the field of electric mobility. A further solution is the new thermal management module, which is being shown for the first time at the IAA. It controls the cooling circuits of engines, transmissions, and, in the near future, the cooling circuits of additional electric drives.
