CeWe Color announces a dividend payout of EUR 1.00
April 26, 2001 - The Supervisory Board and the Board of Management
of the CeWe Color Holding AG plan to pay out a dividend of EUR 1,00
per denominated share to their shareholders, after a dividend of EUR
1.15 in the previous year. The Supervisory Board and the Board of
Management will propose the dividend adjustment to the Annual General
Meeting, since the cost of reconstruction measures in France in the
fiscal year 2000 resulted in a decrease in profits. Hubert Rothärmel,
Chairman of the Board of Management at CeWe Color Holding AG, points
out that the payout-rat with 66 % the highest in the company history
is (1998 and 1999 51 %). The dividend payout will bear full corporate
tax credit, i.e. the gross dividend will amount to EUR 1.43. This
means that CeWe Color is paying its shareholders the second-best
dividend in the history of the company. Without the exceptional
influence of France on profits, it would at least have been in the
range of that of the record year of 1999.
As in previous years, CeWe Color has recorded increases in the
fiscal year of 2000 too, even if the rates of growth were lower. The
number of film rolls developed rose by 1.4 % to 88.2 million, from
which 3.1 billion prints were produced, an increase of 2.8 % compared
to 1999. Group turnover increased by 2.3 % to EUR 403.2 million. For
the first time, digital services and products accounted for more than
1 % of total turnover.
In order to further expand the company's presence in Europe and to
promote efficiency, CeWe Color invested EUR 47.0 million, of which
approximately EUR 4 million was invested in digital technology.
Although these investments are still matched by low earnings, the
Board of Management is convinced that it is taking the correct course
of action. Sound earnings in the core business of the company puts
CeWe Color in the strong position of being able to invest in the
digital future, for it is on this sector that most of our business
will be generated in a matter of only a few years.
