Berlin (euro adhoc) - Air Berlin: More passengers and improved capacity utilization
Air Berlin continues to record positive figures. In May 2008, a total of 2,716,646 passengers traveled on planes operated by the Air Berlin Group, i.e. a 4.6 percent increase over the corresponding month of the previous year (05/2007: 2,597,625 passengers). Fleet capacity utilization improved by 3.3 percentage points to reach 80.8 percent (05/2007: 77.5 percent).
For the first five months of 2008, the accumulated number of passengers traveling on Air Berlin totaled 10,790,381 passengers, i.e. an increase of 8.3 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year (2007: 9,960,628 passengers). For the period from January to May 2008, capacity utilization improved by 3.8 percentage points to reach 76.2 percent (2007: 72.4 percent).
At 5.31 Eurocents in May 2008, flight revenue per available seat kilometer (ASK) developed highly favorably, and was 11.1 percent higher than in the previous year (05/2007: 4.78 Eurocents).
