TTL is purposefully progressing its growth strategy. Its subsidiary TTL International AG has now acquired a 13.6 % holding in one of the USA's leading IT sales and service companies BDI Distributors Inc., Atlanta and a option for additional 5%. In addition, a joint venture between TTL and BDI is planned in the expanding market of Internet fulfillment in Germany and later on in Europe.
At the same time, BDI has taken over the Laguna Corporation and its holdings (Big City Express Corporation, CL Holdings Corporation, BLM Trucking Corporation), thus strengthening its position as one of the top-ranking Internet fulfillment companies in the USA. Within the framework of sales to e-commerce enterprises, in conjunction with the entire logistics required, the company delivers to firms like Amazon.com, ValueAmerica.com, IQVC.com, Cendent.com, Shopping.com. The joint venture with TLL planned for this sector is designed to open up new sales channels for both partners in Germany and in Europe, and to cope with the vigorous growth anticipated in e-commerce.
Other important market segments serviced by BDI/Laguna include:
Rent to own: supplying leasing companies who rent computer equipment to private customers. In this market, the company has exclusive rights for selling Packard-Bell.
In mail order trading, the biggest exclusive account is CompuCard.
In 1999, BDI reported sales of 115 million USD. With sales in 2000 of 225 million USD and a EBIT of 17 million USD, BDI is planning an IPO for the second half of 2000, designed to progress further expansion on the international stage as well.
