Politics Meets Industry: Member of the German Bundestag, Dr. Stefan Kaufmann (CDU), visits the Koehler Paper site in Kehl
- Successor to Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble visits the Koehler Paper plant in Kehl
- Discussion about the needs of the industry
- Focusing on hydrogen supplies and discussions about competitive energy prices
Dr. Stefan Kaufmann (CDU), member of the German Bundestag and successor to the late Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, made a visit to the Koehler Paper site in Kehl. The purpose of his visit was to get to know the Koehler Group as a company and to exchange ideas about the needs and requirements of the industry.
The discussions focused mainly on the local, but also the national needs of the paper manufacturer. Topics discussed included wind power, future hydrogen supplies, and affordable energy prices for the industry. Energy prices in Germany have massively increased over the past two years, presenting a huge challenge to energy-intensive companies like Koehler Paper. At the same time, the company needs to obtain a huge quantity of its energy from renewable sources in order to satisfy its own climate goals, as well as those set by the German national government and the state of Baden-Württemberg. “High energy prices are a competitive disadvantage for our industry and threaten jobs. We have to ensure that our company can survive on the international market”, says Dr. Stefan Karrer, COO of the Koehler Group.
Joachim Uhl, Mill Director of the Koehler Paper site in Kehl, praised the constructive exchange: “We are delighted to be able to welcome Dr. Stefan Kaufmann to the site, and to have the opportunity to discuss our needs and requirements in person.”
Best regards
