- AVM product wave in Hall 13, Stand C48 - Ready for VDSL-up and running at the fair - AVM demos DECT phone with integrated DSL and VoIP - VoIP explosion in the past year-growth to continue strong in 2006
This year, AVM's CeBIT trade fair stand is all about products for broadband access and communication. For example, AVM's first terminal equipment for VDSL, the next generation of fast Internet connections, can be seen in operation at CeBIT 2006. Another AVM premiere features close integration of DECT, DSL and VoIP. There's also news from the FRITZ!Box family, with numerous new products to make broadband access still more attractive, centering on the current top-of-the-line FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170. The communications specialists from Berlin will be setting the standards once again at this year's fair, especially in the booming Internet telephony market. AVM will be showing the whole wave of new products at CeBIT, March 9 to 15, 2006, in Hall 13, Stand C48.
Market Booms Thanks to VoIP-Growth Continuing Strong in 2006 According to a current study by the Wahlen research group, 10 percent of German citizens already use Internet telephony. Continued rapid growth is expected in 2006 thanks to attractive service offerings, new products and greater convenience. More and more minutes of connection time are expected to shift from fixed phone lines to the Internet. Industry experts anticipate up to a fivefold increase in VoIP connection minutes by this summer. In other countries too, VoIP is advancing rapidly. France Télécom for example expects the proportion of personal calls placed over the Internet to increase from 15 to 40 percent by the end of 2006. A similar proportion is expected in Germany by 2008.
New Top-of-the-Line: FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170
At CeBIT AVM will also present the new head of the FRITZ!Box family, FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170. The new development is based on the multiple award-winner, FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7050, and combines a VoIP PBX, a WLAN router and an ADSL modem. Furthermore, it allows you to connect USB accessories, such as memory sticks, printers or disk drives, and share them throughout the LAN. And it permits phone calls, whether over the Internet (VoIP) or over the fixed line, even while the computer is off. FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 works on both ADSL and ADSL2+ lines. All WLAN wireless connections are encrypted, right out of the box, using the secure WPA standard. And the Stick & Surf function allows you to connect computers to the FRITZ!Box's WLAN with no wireless configuration set-up.
AVM Demonstrates Perfect Integration of DECT, DSL and VoIP Also at CeBIT, AVM presents the first highly integrated device to combine DECT, DSL and Voice over IP in one. The new product permits phone calls both over the Internet and over a fixed line, whether ISDN or POTS. The DECT station is a high-end telephone for the most demanding users, and offers full convenience, including a color display, no-hands talking, and an answering machine. Furthermore, computers can be connected by LAN (Ethernet) and WLAN interfaces. Thanks to the combination of FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN features, a single product will be all that's needed for all PC and voice communications. AVM's single-product integration and easy installation are aimed at a broad target group. The new device will be marketed through network operators and service providers. Further details, including the product name and price, will be announced at CeBIT.
Trade Fair Premiere for VDSL Terminal Equipment
At this year's fair, AVM presents the first terminal equipment for the forthcoming VDSL standard, currently with data speeds of up to 50 megabits per second. The new FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7540V, for example, is equipped with an integrated VDSL modem, two analog ports for telephones, four Ethernet LAN ports as well as WLAN, and a USB host. AVM has the expertise for VDSL broadband technology, and accordingly the new FRITZ!Box has been developed by AVM, from the printed circuit board to the user interface. The product's market launch will be coordinated with the availability of the VDSL network and the corresponding offerings by network operators and service providers.
All the new AVM products will be at CeBIT 2006, Hall 13, Stand C48, March 9 to 15.
