AVM Study Demonstrates Digital Music and TV- RadioFRITZ! Connects Stereo to Music Sources- VideoFRITZ! Plays Streams from PC and Internet in Digital Quality
- FRITZ! wireless links for TV and stereo equipment to computers and the Internet - Convenient, seamless playback of digital content - Compatible with the Universal Plug & Play standard (UPnP AV) - Many outputs and codecs ensure broadest range of applications
At Cebit 2006, AVM presents a look ahead at FRITZ! products for easy connections between information technology and entertainment systems. The studies RadioFRITZ! and VideoFRITZ! connect a TV set and a stereo system over WLAN links to a computer and the Internet. Together with FRITZ!Box, the two models deliver optimized access to Internet and PC data sources. For simple set-up and manufacturer-independent compatibility, the Berlin communications specialist implements the Universal Plug & Play standard (UPnP-AV). Thanks to numerous integrated codecs, including MPEG-4, MPEG-2 and MP3, together with a wide variety of digital and analog connectivity options, many kinds of connections are supported. In addition to Internet access and the PC's disk drive, USB memory sticks and disk drives can be connected directly. Both of the new products can be seen in action live at the AVM exhibit, Hall 13, Stand C48.
RadioFRITZ!-Enjoy music conveniently, from the Internet and from the PC
RadioFRITZ! is AVM's audio player for digital music sources, such as the computer and the Internet. As a wireless audio bridge-a streaming media client-RadioFRITZ! receives audio data from the PC over Ethernet or WLAN, and feeds it into the stereo system. All wireless links are encrypted automatically. Audio data can also be received directly from the Internet through FRITZ!Box. Furthermore, the USB host port allows USB memory sticks or comparable devices to be attached directly for more music enjoyment. RadioFRITZ! supports audio streams with MPEG1 Layer 3 (MP3) at data rates of 64 to 320 kbit/s (variable or constant bit rate). Wave files, like those from conventional music CDs, are also transported. RadioFRITZ! uses the UPnP AV standard (Universal Plug and Play) for data communications. This standard permits easy, manufacturer-independent networking.
VideoFRITZ!-Digital TV in Broadband Quality
In VideoFRITZ!, AVM extends the RadioFRITZ! concept to transmit digital images as well. VideoFRITZ! connects TV and stereo components to computers and the Internet. Like RadioFRITZ!, VideoFRITZ! also supports the Universal Plug & Play standard. A multitude of digital and analog connectors permits a variety of configurations, including multi-channel digital sound. With FBAS, S-Video, DVI-D, S/PDIF, RCA audio and video, LAN, wireless LAN and a USB 2.0 host, the connectivity options are nearly unlimited. In addition to the codecs integrated in RadioFRITZ!, VideoFRITZ! also supports MPEG-4 AVC image and sound transmission. MPEG-4 AVC, also known as H.264, is considered one of the most efficient encoding techniques for audio and video applications.
Hardware Studies Achieve Smooth Integration with FRITZ!Box AVM's RadioFRITZ! and VideoFRITZ! studies demonstrate convenient, smooth playing of digital media content. A primary focus of development has been on easy installation and operation. Both of these hardware studies harmonize ideally with FRITZ!Box, which provides the connections to Internet access and the PC.
