CanSERV Open Call relaunches: Apply now for Free Access to Cutting-Edge Cancer Research Services
Applications are now open for the fourth round of the canSERV Open Call, offering researchers complimentary access to a wide portfolio of state-of-the-art services provided by leading European research infrastructures. This initiative supports cancer research at all stages, from basic discovery to clinical application.
Through the EU-funded canSERV project, more than 400 advanced oncology research services and technologies are available to both European and international researchers, irrespective of career stage. These can be combined with customised training opportunities or advisory services, helping scientists fast-track their research and bring novel insights closer to clinical impact.
Empowering the cancer research community
In alignment with Europe’s Cancer Mission and the Beating Cancer Plan, canSERV is dedicated to enabling impactful cancer research. By offering access to world-class services and training, the initiative helps researchers develop innovative cancer diagnostics, treatments, and prevention strategies - moving promising results from the lab bench to patient care.
Driving progress across the full oncology pipeline
Following strong uptake in earlier calls, this fourth Open Call continues to support applications that span the entire oncology research and development pipeline. From foundational science to translational and personalised medicine, canSERV encourages projects that tackle key questions in cancer research.
Applications should align with at least one of the four strategic goals of the EU Cancer Mission:
- Understanding of cancer
- Prevention and early detection
- Diagnosis and treatment
- Quality of life for patients and their families
Wide range of services available
Researchers from academia, start-ups, micro, small and medium-sized biotech/ pharmaceutical SMEs, groups of scientists, networks and consortia may apply for several services including:
· Disease models · Advanced technologies for personalised oncology · Biomarkers research development and validation · New therapeutic solutions · Accelerated translation into personalised oncology clinical practice · Open digital research services · Access to human samples and data · Clinical trials and design · Ethical, legal and socio-economic dimensions · Training.
Key dates and details:
Call opens: 15 April 2025
Submission deadline: 15 July 2025 at 14.00 CEST
Estimated budget: EUR 1,5 million.
All applications will be evaluated by an independent international panel. Funded applications must conclude within the lifetime of the canSERV project (FAQ Section “Time frames for the service provision”).
