BRAINPOOL TV AG will take a 20% stake in RONIN INTERNATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT AG, based in Zug/Switzerland. BRAINPOOL TV intends in future to cooperate closely with the international media company which includes operating units in both Zurich and London. Together the two companies will start by adapting BRAINPOOL TV AG's successful TV formats and marketing these to an international audience. Another objective will be to establish an international network of young and creative independent TV production companies.
This cooperative deal represents the first step towards establishing a strong presence in Central Europe, Great Britain and the USA which will enable the two organisations to jointly develop their innovative and creative TV programmes and formats. BRAINPOOL TV and Ronin plan to expand their partnership to include at least one independent media company from the USA. Their joint strategy foresees the development of successful comedy, sit-com, entertainment, game show and TVmovie formats which will then be adapted for the international market and produced by the respective national partners. The companies have their own top writers and artists who will jointly be involved in the development of new formats for all three markets.
In the twelve months since it was established, Ronin has already achieved an enviable record of successes in the TV business. The daily game show "Champions" for Swiss station TV3 has so far reached a total of 210 episodes. Ronin has just produced an pilot film entitled "Seefeld" for TV 3. And with the family entertainment show "It's a knockout" which has been revived and reformated by Ronin (11 episodes to date), Britain's Channel 5 scored its highest audience rating in the past 4 years. The second series of "It's a knockout" will be starting in August. Ronin is also developing a new comedy show with British artist Jon Culshaw, who has already made the international headlines. The new show named "Alter Ego" is set to start in Autumn 2000.
