GEBRUEDER BEETZ FILM PRODUCTION UNVEILS

THE HAMAS FESTIVAL ATTACK IN LARGE-SCALE DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTIONS FOR ZDF AND ARTE

BERLIN/HAMBURG (NOVEMBER 24th, 2023) – THE AWARD-WINNING FILM PRODUCTION COMPANY, GEBRUEDER BEETZ, HAS COMPLETED PRODUCTION ON A 32 MINUTE SPECIAL ON THE OCTOBER 7TH, NOVA MUSIC FESTIVAL MASSACRE AND ARE FINALIZING A 50 MINUTE VERSION WHICH WILL BE DISTRIBUTED WORLDWIDE.

Launching as an ARTE Re: feature on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 at 10:10 PM in Germany and 10:50 PM in France on ARTE, the special called "Hamas’ Festival Attack – The Survivors of the Desert Rave" features interviews with the survivors of the massacre, first responders and real time footage collated from multiple sources. As part of a special program on ARTE, interviews will be aired before and after the film, with survivors of the attack, director Duki Dror, and producer Reinhardt Beetz.

A 50-minute version of the film titled “Supernova: The Music Festival Massacre” is currently being finalized and will be distributed worldwide within the next few weeks.

In addition, the production company is working on "One Day in October", a large international 90-minute high-end documentary covering the massacre and its aftermath, which will be completed in October 2024.

Produced by Reinhardt Beetz and Duki Dror (“Inside the Mossad" Netflix and WDR/ARTE) the team includes award-winning filmmakers and producers Yossi Bloch (Netflix's "The Devil Next Door"), Noam Pinchas (VPRO's "Murky Skies"), and EP/producer Danna Stern ("Fauda", "The Devil Next Door", "The Oslo Diaries").

"Our team on the ground documented the event in real time. We knew we had to act fast and capture these unbelievably harrowing stories which will resonate for years to come," says Reinhardt Beetz, CEO of Gebrueder Beetz film production. "The special program, which will be broadcast on November 28th, is just the beginning and we are in development on longer productions that will tell the story of the terrible attacks by Hamas with journalistic depth."

"We knew we had to start filming the survivors, document their experiences, and collect a wide variety of materials as quickly as possible," explains Israeli producer and director Duki Dror (Zygote Films). “The story of the massacre at the festival is unique not only due to the staggering number of victims and the brutal terrors they endured, but the fact that these events were captured in real-time by multiple sources on a massive scale, including the Hamas’ own cameramen and GoPros attached to the perpetrators, by the victims on their mobile phones, CCTV footage, dash cams and the first responders on site."

The coordinated and planned attack by Hamas on the festival, which was attended by over 3,500 revelers from multiple countries, was part of a series of raids on numerous Israeli targets carried out by the terror group in the early hours of a holiday weekend. Over 365 people were murdered, hundreds more wounded with at least 40 more victims kidnapped and taken into Gaza. More than 1,200 people were killed by Hamas on October 7th and nearly 5,000 were wounded.

Gebrueder Beetz has already produced many films in the region, such as the award-winning documentary "Gaza" (Sundance 2019, ZDF/ARTE) or recently "In the Shadow of Beirut" (ZDF/ARTE), which enters the Oscar race and was co-produced with Hillary Clinton's company Hidden Light Productions, among others.

All films are united by a deeply human approach, far removed from politics - and yet, they are highly political.
