AdCapital AG, listed in SMAX, has acquired a 9% share of the CMC Capital Markets Consulting AG, Munich, and a 14% share of zooplus.com AG, also based in Munich.
CMC is a bank-independent consulting firm for the capital market, specialising in IPO consulting and financial market communication. By investing in CMC, AdCapital hopes to accelerate the company's European expansion and form the basis for a strategic partnership. In building up a network of strategic partnerships, AdCapital is strengthening its position as a private equity and venture capital company with a steady deal flow outside its existing market activities and auctions. Furthermore, such partnerships will enable AdCapital to accompany all stages of growth with high levels of competence and efficiency. CMC will support AdCapital mainly in the preparation of exits on the stock market. Especially, where CMC is a partner company of the Neuer Markt and DAI.
CMC has grown spectacularly since its foundation in 1999. The CMC Group currently employs 42 employees, including 30 consultants at its Munich office. In 2001, CMC plans to achieve a turnover of 15 million Euro and significant positive results.
Zooplus was founded on 30 June, 1999, and presently employs 50. This start-up distributes over 10,000 articles for horses, dogs, cats, fish, birds and reptiles over the internet. About 500,000 users visit their site every month. In August, zooplus.com AG was included in the consulting firm Bain & Company's e25 index of the most promising internet start-ups. Zooplus plans to achieve a turnover of 3.5 million Euro this year and start cutting a profit from 2002 onwards. With AdCapital as its new partner, the success story of zooplus is further guaranteed: growth in Germany and cautious internationalisation is continuing. Market research estimates that the turnover of all internet sales for pet goods in Europe will reach about 600 million Euros in the year 2004. This corresponds to 5% of the total turnover in this sector.
About CMC The Munich consulting firm helps companies increase their capital, on and off the stock market, by IPOs and related financial market communication. The clients of CMC are primarily young high-growth technology, internet and media companies. CMC also has international clients, namely Trend Micro and the Knight Trading Group, both listed on the Nasdaq. CMC is the main shareholder of EquityStory.com, which is the first B2B internet marketplace for investor relations, and partner of TradeCross, an innovative internet IPO and equity trading platform.
