Ottobock successfully completes reinforcement with Livit

Livit in the Netherlands and Orthomed in Belgium expand patient care network in Benelux

Ottobock, the global healthtech company, has successfully completed the acquisition of Livit B.V. (“Livit“), one of the leading patient care providers in the Netherlands. The acquisition from the previous owner HAL Investments, the Dutch investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V., an international investment company, was completed at the end of April after the customary regulatory clearance by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).

“We are very pleased to be able to help even more people maintain, regain and improve their freedom of movement with the help of Livit in the Netherlands,” says Philipp Schulte-Noelle, CEO of Ottobock. Livit operates 50 full-service patient care centres in the Netherlands, offering patients and users a comprehensive portfolio of prostheses and orthoses as well as orthopaedic shoes and stockings. In 2021, Livit generated sales of more than EUR 40 million.

In April, Ottobock had additionally strengthened its patient care network with the Belgian company Orthomed, another specialist in patient care. Orthomed has around 40 employees and operates three patient care centres in Genk, Hasselt and Turnhout. The company offers a comprehensive patient care portfolio with prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs, and other solutions to improve the personal mobility of users. In 2021, Orthomed generated sales of about EUR 10 million. Following the acquisition of the leading Belgian O&P specialist Vigo in 2019, Ottobock now operates the largest patient care network in Belgium with a total of 20 locations.

“With Livit and Orthomed we have sustainably strengthened our Western European patient care network. This underlines our claim to combine high-quality technology and the best possible individual care into an integrated approach,” says Philipp Schulte-Noelle.

Ottobock operates the largest global network of patient care centres, offering customised orthopaedic treatment and rehabilitation solutions for patients in need. With harmonised quality standards in currently about 390 patient care centres worldwide, state-of-the-art technology and close collaboration with doctors and specialised clinics, Ottobock helps users to improve their quality of life. By applying a digitalised user centric approach, Ottobock is leading the way towards a data-driven, fully integrated O&P value chain allowing for accelerated growth and continuous improvements of the standard of care.
