Lars Hegg (49) has been appointed General Branch Manager of Helaba's Stockholm office and Head of Real Estate Finance Nordics with immediate effect. In this capacity, he succeeds Birgitta Leijon, who is retiring in the summer.

Together with Helaba's Real Estate Finance Nordics team, which operates from Stockholm as well as Helaba's head office in Frankfurt, he is responsible for the bank's real estate activities in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. Helaba's Stockholm branch also provides services in other areas of the bank's activities, notably Corporate Finance. Helaba has been actively involved in the Nordic market since 2006 and steadily establishing and expanding its operations there over the years. While initially conceived as a representative office, since 2018 the Stockholm office has been operating as a fully-fledged branch with a number of business units.

Michael Kröger, who is in charge of Helaba's international real estate finance business, remarks: "The Nordics have been a key component of our global network since as far back as 2006. We very much look forward to working with Lars in the future thanks to his breadth of experience and also given the seamless handover from Birgitta Leijon, which ensures our customers will continue to benefit from the excellent quality of service they have come to expect."

Lars Hegg adds: "I am thrilled at the opportunity to work for Helaba in this role and appreciate the trust that has been placed in me to drive the expansion and development of Helaba's activities in the Nordics. Looking ahead, we will continue to build on our strong, established platform while strengthening existing and creating new relationships. We have an exceptionally competitive offering and significant capabilities that enable us to support both Nordic and international customers in reaching their goals and ambitions."

In his previous role, Lars Hegg served as a Senior Client Executive at Nordea in its Stockholm-based real estate lending business, supporting large and complex real estate clients. He has amassed over 25 years of experience in the real estate and banking industries, including positions as branch manager of another international bank in Stockholm, treasurer of a listed Swedish real estate company and senior originator at another German bank. As a native Swede, he has also worked in Finland, Denmark and Norway. Lars Hegg's primary area of expertise involves structured real estate finance for all types of properties.
