The collaboration of the two companies is still subject to a review by the German Federal Cartel Office and the Austrian Federal Competition Authority. Provided that a positive decision is handed down, the partnership should begin in the course of 2019. It stipulates the delivery of parcels in Austria by Austrian Post. Furthermore, it is planned that Austrian Post will take over the affected Deutsche Post DHL Group employees and a majority of its logistics facilities in Austria. The collaboration should enable both partners to jointly leverage the potential in the growing, cross-border e-commerce business and harness the strengths of both companies in their respective delivery networks. At the same time, customers in both countries will be offered high-quality parcel delivery services with short delivery times for incoming and outgoing shipments. "We are pleased to have secured Deutsche Post DHL Group as a partner. Our comprehensive Austrian-wide delivery stands for quality and reliability", says Austrian Post CEO Georg Pölzl. "Pick-up stations, self-service zones, pick-up boxes and the features of our Post App are unique and are well received by our customers", he adds. Based on the 108 million parcels transported by Austrian Post in 2018, the medium-term objective of Austrian Post is to increase parcel volumes to 150 million items by 2022. This cooperation agreement comprises an important step towards achieving this target earlier than envisaged. The stable outlook of Austrian Post with regard to its operating earnings in the 2019 financial year remain unchanged against the backdrop of rising parcel volumes but increasing investment and integration costs.
