init innovation in traffic systems AG has been awarded a contract worth millions by Kinkisharyo International. The Japanese group intends to equip 115 light rail vehicles with hardware and software from init. The vehicles will subsequently be used by the Dallas Area Rapid Transport (DART) located in the state of Texas, USA. init will supply the required equipment, including on-board computers, mobile data terminals, information systems, vehicle location systems, and communication technology. The delivery of equipment to the transportation company in the Texan metropolis will commence in mid-2007 and is scheduled for completion by 2010. The exact order volume is agreed by both parties not to be disclosed.
This is the first project in which init will cooperate with the Japanese vehicle manufacturer, and the first init contract received from Japan. Furthermore, the Karlsruhe-based specialist in telematics and electronic fare collection systems for buses and trains has gained a further two new customers in Kinkisharyo and DART.
