WHU Becomes First German Business School to Collaborate with OpenAI
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is the first German business school to collaborate with OpenAI, a leader in artificial intelligence and deployment, to implement ChatGPT Edu across its institution. In providing access to this powerful tool, WHU is allowing its currently enrolled students, as well as its academic and professional staff, to take advantage of this revolutionary technology and all it has to offer.
“AI is unbelievably powerful, and it is changing our lives on a fundamental level. It is imperative to understand how AI will impact our futures—and how everyone, especially our students, can use it responsibly for the greater good,” noted Christian Andres, Dean of WHU. “With our collaboration, we are going way beyond simply offering free access to certain models. And it is not only our students who will be able to use this amazing technology. We want to make sure that our organization as a whole embraces all the opportunities that AI offers, too.”
Leah Belsky, General Manager of Education at OpenAI, said: “AI is already transforming education by personalizing learning, accelerating academic research, and boosting productivity for faculty staff. In rolling out ChatGPT Edu across its entire organization, WHU is not only embracing the potential of AI, but getting students and staff ready for an AI future.”
Accordingly, the school plans to fully integrate the use of AI into its curricula, research activities, and administrative processes. By providing access to ChatGPT Edu, WHU will be able to make good use of OpenAI’s latest models and advanced capabilities, such as personalized tutoring, writing, data analytics, and document summarization. ChatGPT Edu also includes enterprise-level security to ensure WHU introduces AI in a way that is safe, secure, and respectful of sensitive data. “This is a major investment in our students’ future and the future of WHU as an institution,” said Dr. Toni Calabretti, Chairman of the WHU Foundation. “With our commitment to AI, we can ensure that WHU is at the forefront of this exciting time in technology.”
The school’s Professor Dries Faems (Chair of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technological Transformation), developer of the Generative AI for Business Applications course of WHU’s MBA programs, has long been enthusiastic about the potential of this technology and how it can be used to help the school’s aspiring entrepreneurs and creative thinkers make a difference: “By applying AI wherever appropriate on our campuses, our students will graduate equipped with the comprehensive technological literacy they need to become real changemakers and help support Europe’s digital transformation.”
