Hamburg (euro adhoc) - Hamburg, 25 March 2011. Nordex is to supply 22 wind turbines for the "Drone Hill" project in Scotland. The customer is the American power company AES, which already has wind capacity in excess of 1,700 MW in Europe, China and the United States. AES has also signed a five-year Premium Service Contract with Nordex.
The "Drone Hill" site is located on the east coast of Scotland in an area characterised by high winds and is subject to building height restrictions. AES found that the Nordex N60/1300 turbine was ideal for these conditions.
The project will be installed in two phases. The first nine turbines are due to start operation in February next year, with the remaining 13 following in August. The expected annual yield from the entire wind farm stands at around 66 gigawatt hours.
"We are pleased to have been selected to supply `Drone Hill´ to AES and to add yet another project to the large fleet of Nordex wind turbine generators in the UK. AES is a very experienced player in the wind industry, and we are proud to collaborate with the company", said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, Chief Sales Officer at Nordex SE.
