In the first six months of the current business year, the Nordex Group (ISIN: DE000A0D6554) achieved a roughly 150% year-on-year increase in new business. As of June 30, 2006, order receipts were valued at roughly EUR 400 million (year-ago period: EUR 158 million). Accordingly, new business is continuing to exceed forecasts. Order receipts of around EUR 140 million in the second quarter (previous year: EUR 123 million) matched the Companys expectations. For the year as a whole, Nordex currently expects to be able to report new business of around EUR 600 million (previous year: EUR 395 million).
The strong order intake is particularly being underpinned by brisk international demand. Roughly 80% of new orders came from out-side Germany (previous year: 43%), including EUR 195 million alone from France, where Nordexs project development activities are proving successful. As in the previous year, Nordex plans to widen its market share in the high-growth markets of Europe and Asia in particular.
New business is being increasingly spurred by demand for Nordexs high-end range of wind turbines. Some 77% of order receipts relate to projects with the N80/N90 (2,300 - 2,500 kW), up from 47% in the previous year. As a result, Nordex is able to harness additional economies of scale.
