Frankfurt (ots)

BRE Bank, majority owned by Germany's

Poland's best financial institution. This was the fourth year the

Poland's President Alexander Kwasniewski made the final selection.
The President's Economic Awards are conferred in seven categories,
and distinguish those firms which contribute to Poland's economic
development, as well as "...popularizing positive methods for
achieving success in a free-market economy."
The award, which consists of a 25-kilogram granite trophy, was
presented to BRE Bank chairman Wojciech Kostrzewa. He commented: "It
takes many years of hard work to earn the honor of becoming a
laureate. It therefore gives me great joy that BRE Bank is the first
bank in the history of the President's Award."
The other President Awards were given for the best Polish company,
the best small enterprise, best exporter, best agricultural
enterprise, best foreign investor and companies recognized for having
