Five million engines from the Audi plant in Hungary

Audi has once again confirmed its expertise in engine construction: today the five millionth engine, a 3.0 litre six-cylinder unit for an Audi A6, left the production line at the plant of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. in Györ. This engine, which develops a power output of 162 kW (220 PS), has an aluminium block, continuous intake camshaft adjustment and a two-stage variable intake manifold.
"We are extremely satisfied with the work of our Hungarian employees and our subsidiary," commented Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Commission of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. and Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG, at the ceremony also attended by the workforce. He praised the plant's high standards in terms of quality, costs and the ability to meet deadlines. Heizmann: "Our high-tech facility in Hungary makes a major contribution to increasing the international competitiveness of the Audi Group."
Jürgen Lunemann, Chairman of the Management of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft., also stressed the dedication and capabilities of the highly qualified and motivated employees. "In combination with state-of-the-art production technologies, these qualities enable us to impress our customers with outstanding products."
AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft., a fully owned subsidiary of AUDI AG, was established in 1993. The company produced over one million engines and more than 56,000 sports cars in the year 2000.
Audi is an international developer and manufacturer of high-quality cars. In 2000 the company sold more than 650,000 Audi models. The sales revenues of the Audi Group totalled DM 39 billion. The Audi Group currently has more than 50,000 employees.
