Virtual courier and express service LetMeShip starts today/ Second
step in venture strategy
The eCommerce service company SinnerSchrader has taken a stake in
the Internet company LetMeShip. The Hamburg start-up combines the
services of big international shipping companies like UPS, DHL, TNT
and FedEx, in similar fashion to the American companies iShip and
Smartship. For the first time customers are able to search for the
shipper which can provide the best terms and most effective service
for their requirements. All at www.letmeship.com. Starting this
summer LetMeShip will start as a business-to-business platform where
complete shipping orders can be made. Preparations are also under way
to establish subsidaries in other key markets in Europe.
By participating in LetMeShip, SinnerSchrader Aktiengesellschaft
has made another important step in its venture strategy. As eCommerce
is booming, more and more Internet shops require a strong and
reliable partner to handle their online orders quickly. The fast
growing number of eCommerce transactions will also see a rising
demand for shipping services. SinnerSchrader holds a stake in the new
company's capital. The Hamburg-based eCommerce service provider will
contribute its know-how in strategic consulting, implementation and
marketing of eCommerce solutions. Like in the first joint venture
with the flower distributor Blume 2000, SinnerSchrader works as a
catalyst and will support LetMeShip building up a new value-added
chain by using the Internet. LetMeShip will help to bring together
companies and express services in a faster way. The service is
intended mainly for smaller and midsized companies as well as online
shops and auction sites.
The market is huge: In Europe alone this target group generates DM
14 billion worth of express shipments. Already today, LetMeShip
provides higher transparency for services and prices in the market.
LetMeShip also offers the opportunity to track the status of a
shipment at any particular moment. In the future customers will be
able to use this service to complete the whole transaction via the
Internet. They can select the shipper by best price or delivery time.
LetMeShip will not only compare prices and services, it will also
offer tools to overcome administrative and technical problems and
will help to track shipments of serveral service providers.
