NOMOS Metro 38 date urban gray
While retailers are celebrating Black Friday, watchmaker NOMOS Glashütte is celebrating Metro 38 date urban gray, a watch which is almost black. Both stylish and ahead of its time.
GLASHÜTTE, NOVEMBER 26, 2021. “Black Friday” has become the colloquial name for the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US, and many countries around the world have more or less adopted it. As the story goes, at the end of this particular day, merchants’ hands turned black from counting all the money which was exchanged. Traditionally, Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. At NOMOS Glashütte it’s not about counting money, but counting the hours and minutes. It’s about elegant wrists wearing an almost completely black watch. Monika Liebscher, Head of Accounting at NOMOS Glashütte: “For me, Metro 38 date urban gray is the manual winding watch of our times.”
The anthracite, or urban gray, dial under a dome of sapphire glass gives Metro a lean and masculine look. Mint-green indices and rhodium-plated hands contrast beautifully with the red seconds hand. The fine caliber, visible behind the sapphire glass back, is extremely slim and, when wound, will run for 42 hours. Its name: DUW 4101. Inside, as in all Metro models, runs the NOMOS Swing System—the famous proprietary escapement by NOMOS Glashütte.
This NOMOS watch was designed by Mark Braun, who also created the other models in the Metro series. German Design Award, Good Design Award, Green Product Award, iF Product Design Award and Red Dot Award are just a few of the many accolades this family of watches has won.
