The order provides for the development, industrialisation, ramp-up and full rate production of the fan cowls for the entire lifetime of the aircraft programme and will, depending on the sales success of the A330neo, generate a turnover volume of more than US$ 100 million for FACC. The delivery of the first parts is planned for third quarter 2016. Aircelle with its headquarters in Gonfreville l'Orcher (France) is the development and manufacturing partner for the engine nacelles for Airbus' latest A330 version launched in July 2014. Airbus has selected the new Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 as the single engine option to power the two variants of the wide body twin-jet A330neo. This current order will deepen the longstanding strategic cooperation between Aircelle and FACC and enable FACC to extend its position as a development and manufacturing partner of complex and ready-to-install solutions in the field of fan cowls. "We see the contract award as a strong reinforcement of our successful cooperation with Aircelle which has been in existence for many years," emphasised Walter A. Stephan, CEO of FACC AG, on the occasion of the contract signing. "We are proud that FACC's lightweight solution - integrated in Aircelle's advanced nacelle system - will fly on the new, efficient A330neo and will contribute to the Airbus aircraft of tomorrow." FACC will manufacture the fan cowls in its Engines & Nacelles plant in Reichersberg (Austria) using advanced carbon fibre reinforced plastic technology and supply them to Aircelle facility in Toulouse as a ready-to-install assembly. The fan cowls are designed as part of the aerodynamic fairing for the engine. They function as moveable doors for the regular control inspections and maintenance of the engines during the operation of the aircraft. Within the framework of the development phase currently underway, FACC is optimising the components with regard to weight and structural strength as well as for aerodynamic aspects. "Through our comprehensive expertise in the field of nacelle composites we are able to provide Aircelle an innovative product solution featuring a world class performance in terms of technology, quality performance and cost efficiency," said Robert Braunsberger, FACC Vice President Engines & Nacelles. In addition to the fan cowls for the A330neo FACC has a long standing relationship with Aircelle since 1995, doing bypass ducts for business jets for Embraer and Cessna aircraft.
