Worldwide brainstorming project: Vienna Tourist Board targets open innovation
Vienna, Austria (ots)
The Vienna Tourist Board is relying on global access in its Vienna Tourism Strategy 2020: travelers from all over the world, tourism experts and the Viennese have been invited to take part in an ideas competition for new, unconventional and provocative proposals for the destination Vienna. The best of these will be built into Vienna's strategic planning and will improve the city's chances in the competition for guests. About 650,000 users are invited to participate in an open innovation project called: "Now or never: Your idea for #Vienna2020".
The Vienna Tourist Board has taken a participatory approach in the lead-up to the Vienna Tourism Strategy 2020: residents of Vienna, travelers with Vienna experience, and even total newcomers the world over have been called upon to submit their proposals in an ideas competition. Around 650,000 participants will be contacted directly via websites, social media and newsletters. The pivotal question is: "What will make Vienna the most attractive city in Europe in 2020?" Proposals can be submitted in English or German on http://2020.vienna.info till March 18, 2014. Extraordinary sightseeing experiences, new services or unconventional events, ideas for travel, accommodation, meals or the use of information technologies - the organizers want original ideas in words and pictures which other entrants will also be able to evaluate. "The objective of our open innovation approach is to set new standards in destination development, and go new ways in marketing," explains Director of Tourism Norbert Kettner. The best ideas will be awarded prizes and will help to actively shape the future of Vienna as a tourism metropolis.
