dpa strengthens tech coverage from the US
Berlin (ots)
Artificial intelligence is spreading rapidly in almost all areas of life. The key impetus for this development is coming from the United States. Technology topics already play a major role in dpa's reporting, and from October the news agency is further strengthening this field: digital reporter Andrej Sokolow (52) is moving from the Berlin editorial office to the West Coast of the US to report directly from there, using multimedia, on the tech companies' developments and their consequences.
Sokolow is a renowned and well-connected expert on digital issues. For almost two decades, he has been writing for dpa about how technological change is transforming the world. dpa Editor-in-Chief Sven Gösmann on the appointment: "Artificial intelligence is to the digitalised society what the steam engine was to industrialisation. To follow this development at a central site of the technical revolution is essential for our tech reporting. With Andrej Sokolow, one of Germany's most knowledgeable and best-informed tech journalists is taking over this important post."
Sokolow has worked for dpa since 1992, including at its Moscow bureau and on the technology desk. He has been a reporter on dpa's business desk specializing in digital topics since 2020. In his new role, he will continue to work closely with Christoph Dernbach, dpa's chief digital correspondent in the Berlin central editorial office.
