ots Ad hoc-Service: WEB.DE AG <DE0005296503> WEB.DE invests in TV station and gains access to 40% of all German households

Karlsruhe (ots Ad hoc-Service) -

Ad hoc-announcement edited and sent by DGAP. The sender is solely
responsible for the contents of this announcement.
based WEB.DE AG takes a 9.94%
investment in the TV station B.TV Television GmbH & Co. KG,
Karlsruhe/ Stuttgart. B.TV's programme is broadcast analogue via the
ASTRA satellite. B.TV also operates numerous cable networks and
covers Baden-Württemberg one hundred percent from February 2001
onwards. This means that B.TV reaches over 40% of all households in
Germany and 28 million households in Europe via its ASTRA frequency
and via cable. Further programme feed-ins are planned. The station is
aiming at providing a fresh programme for the core target group of 14
to 49-year olds which sets a clear mark through its regional news.
WEB.DE AG's investment in B.TV is a further step towards
strategically integrating the traditional media into the Internet
whilst tapping into new target groups. WEB.DE wishes to market its
Internet contents such as traffic jam news or "MillionenKlick" via
B.TV and thus access a group of customers that to date is not in the
Internet. In addition to the synergetic exploitation of existing
contents, WEB.DE is also planning a proprietary WEB.DE programme in
television. In return, WEB.DE is going to design an Internet portal
for B.TV.
As the first Internet player in Germany, WEB.DE's direct
commitment to television is supporting the cross-media establishment
of the brand, whilst at the same time providing the company with an
excellent starting position to transform the Internet portal into a
comprehensive, one-stop communication platform. The broadband
technology will fuse media and make the Internet the carrier of all
forms of media.
About B.TV B.TV Television GmbH & Co. KG is the operator of B.TV,
the regional programme for Baden-Württemberg and its provinces. Via
satellite (ASTRA analogue), cable and aerial around 10 million people
can view the new programme in Baden-Württemberg. B.TV thus achieves
from February 2001 a 100% coverage. The programme also reaches about
35 million viewers in Germany and over 70 million viewers in Europe.
B.TV has a modern, professional and up-to-date regional programme
with special focus on the core target group of 14 to 49-year olds.
The large proportion of professional 'home-grown' products (news,
magazines as well as major Saturday and Sunday late shows and young
entertainment programmes) allow this station to position itself
against national programmes with its very own, distinctive message.
Its programme profile makes B.TV the #1 advertising carrier. For the
first time ever, Baden-Württemberg (Nielsen 3B) can be booked
area-wide by just one programme. Divisional movements allow maximum
access to regional target groups.
About WEB.DE Karlsruhe-based WEB.DE AG operates the Internet
portal WEB.DE which already reaches about every third Internet user
in Germany. This makes WEB.DE one of the leading German Internet
players that already has one of the most comprehensive German
Internet offer with other 30 services. As a further milestone of the
successive expansion into a comprehensive communication platform,
WEB.DE AG, using the services of its subsidiary WORKWAYS GmbH,
extended its much awarded Unified Messaging Service FreeMail to a
customised service offer in the B2B segment for small and mid-sized
companies in November 2000.
Since February 2000, the WEB.DE AG share has been listed on Neuer
Markt (securities identification number 529 650).
