STELLA acquires marketing rights for Peter Maffay's Musical
"Tabaluga und Lilli" Project group for the development of children's
musicals initiated
STELLA Entertainment, a 100% subsidiary of the DEAG (Deutsche
Entertainment AG), has acquired the marketing rights from 1st June
2000 to the Peter Maffay musical "Tabaluga und Lilli". This has been
playing since September 1999 in the musical theatre CentrO in
Oberhausen in a production of the musical marketing company involving
Peter Maffay, the town of Oberhausen, EM.TV & Merchandising and Guido
Joosten as managing director.
This is the first time that STELLA has made its ticket sales and
marketing apparatus available to others - the apparatus has
previously been used exclusively for its own musicals. In return,
STELLA will receive a marketing provision and a consulting fee for
the strategic musical promotion. A marketing offensive will begin in
June with the offer of a "Family and Friends Ticket" for the summer
of this year, not only for the STELLA musicals "Tanz der Vampire
(Dance of the Vampires)", Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame",
"Starlight Express", "Cats", "The Phantom of the Opera" and Disney's
"Beauty and the Beast", but also for "Tabaluga und Lilli". The
co-operation also includes the exclusive rights to sell tickets
through STELLA's own ticketing system, marketing via its own
call-centre, and the support of the Key Account Management of STELLA.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive Officers of EM.TV and DEAG,
Thomas Haffa and Peter Schwenkow, have also set up a new project
group to work on the development of children's musicals. After the
considerable success in the past year of the children's musical "Jim
Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer" with music by Konstantin Wecker
in the Musical Theatre on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the companies
are examining whether any of the children's series in the portfolio
of EM.TV, such as for example "Muppets", "Biene Maja" or "Pippi
Langstrumpf" could be suitable for adaptation as children's musicals.
This opens up an opportunity for STELLA of a further utilisation of
its musical theatres with additional matinee shows.
