A charitable project by the Koehler Group: Apprentices make apple juice for a good cause
- Sustainable combination of environmental education and social work
- Select harvest from the company’s own meadow orchards yields 374 liters of apple juice sold – fresh-pressed with no added sweeteners or preservatives
- Ortenauer Verein Aufschrei e.V. receives the proceeds of 1,040 euros
The apprentices at the Koehler Group recently made approximately 300 liters of fresh-pressed apple juice with no added sweeteners or preservatives with apples from the company’s own meadow orchards. The young talent at Koehler will once again donate the proceeds to a nonprofit this year. Michael Hattenbach, second chairperson of the “Aufschrei” organization, received the donation of around 1,000 euros, which was given by Koehler apprentices Amelie Fischer and Tim Schneider on behalf of all the apprentices at the Koehler Group together with Head of Training Stefan Grözinger.
The organization “Aufschrei” has been active as a counseling and support center for victims of sexual abuse and violence in the entire Ortenaukreis district since 1990. And given the organization’s ties to the region and the fact that the money will also do good by helping children and teenagers in addition to helping with this crucial mission, the apprentices knew exactly what their choice of nonprofit would be.
The donation will help with school projects
During last year’s fall, the apprentices at the Koehler Group harvested apples from the company’s own meadow orchards, after which Mostkellerei Kaspar in Oberkirch-Nussbach pressed the harvest into fresh apple juice. This organic apple juice with no added sweeteners or preservatives was then labeled and sold to Koehler employees. Environmental education and social work are both an integral part of the company’s values and go beyond just technical training for apprenticeships at Koehler. Head of HR Development, Training, and Occupational Health Management Stefan Grözinger had the following comment: “When it comes to training, our goal is not just to stick to the training plan, but also to impart our values concerning the environment, sustainability, and health to our apprentices. That’s an important and huge contribution to the Koehler Group’s focus on consistent sustainability.”
Yours sincerely
