URBAN FUTURE Global Conference
Courageous CityChangers sparking innovation in cities
The agenda for Europe's biggest event for sustainable cities is online
Vienna (ots)
3,000 attendees from more than 400 cities, 50 countries and 4 continents are expected at the URBAN FUTURE Global Conference (UFGC) from 28 February to 2 March 2018. For the first time the conference will be held in Vienna, bringing together the most inspiring CityChangers of our time. The world's first "Cities FuckUp Night", an experimental event format born in Mexico, presents a special highlight.
CityChangers are changing cities
Population growth, shortage of resources, climate change and air pollution pose major challenges to cities. Added to this are the rigid administrative structures that prevent necessary changes. That's where the CityChangers come in: Their boldness and dedication is breaking down rigid city structures and rethinking processes and methods of communication.
"Cities FuckUp Night" highlight
For the first time there will be a FuckUp Night for city leaders as part of the UFGC. This event format has already impressed 200,000 attendees in more than 250 cities. The idea is to break the taboo of failure and learn from mistakes. Councillor Andrea Reimer, Vancouver, reports on the first "Cities FuckUp Night" about what absolutely should not happen.
Programme is online - 120 speakers already booked
The agenda is now available at www.urban-future.org/programme. The content focuses on the four key themes of mobility, living & city planning, communication & leadership and resources. Improving air quality in cities is also at the top of this year's agenda.
Speakers include: - Johanna Kotipelto: Expert from the office of the Finnish Prime Minister and founder of a digital platform for sustainable crowdfunding projects in urban administration - Andrea Reimer: The councillor responsible for the multi-award-winning "Greenest City Action Plan" has set herself the goal of making Vancouver the greenest city in the world by 2020. - David Gelber & Joel Bach: Producers of Years of Living Dangerously; an Emmy Award-winning US-American documentary about climate change.
