Air Berlin: Double-digit revenue increase in June

Berlin (euro adhoc) - In June 2009, Air Berlin, Germany's second-largest airline company, increased its revenue per available seat kilometre to 6.07 Eurocents (06/2008: 5.32 Eurocents), i.e. an increase of 14 percent. The number of passengers transported decreased to 2,571,581, i.e. 4.9 percent less than in the corresponding month of the previous year (06/2008: 2,704,655), in part due to a targeted capacity reduction of 2.7 percent. Fleet capacity utilization decreased from 80.9 to 79.1 percent (-1.8 percentage points).
From January to June 2009, the number of passengers transported decreased by 5.8 percent to 12,714,822 (2008: 13,495,036), to an extent due to accumulated capacity having been reduced by 3 percent. Over the same period, fleet capacity utilization decreased from 77.1 to 74.9 percent (-2.2 percentage points).
