  • The traditional amateur soccer tournament returns for its 29th installment, the first since the pandemic
  • Fifteen teams took part in the tournament
  • Colleagues with a love for soccer took to the field to battle it out

Koehler’s amateur soccer tournament returned this year, and the event was eagerly anticipated. The tournament has established itself as a firm fixture on the company calendar since it was first held in 1992. Various departments from Koehler Group companies put teams together for the competition. Fifteen teams of soccer fans from various departments signed up to take part in this year’s tournament and test themselves on the field against their colleagues. In keeping with tradition, each team came up with its own creative team name. The tournament is as popular as ever and generates a great deal of excitement in the weeks leading up to it.

Focus on the Olympic Spirit — “It's the Taking Part that Counts”

For the 29th time, local club SV Oberkirch provided its facilities and referees, and made sure everyone was well looked after — the perfect conditions for this kind of event. The soccer fields were divided into smaller playing areas for the occasion. The games got under way on time at 6:00 p.m., following a brief welcome from the tournament committee. During the tournament, musicians from the Koehler company band, led by Alois Sauer, provided a musical accompaniment to the sporting action.

Team from the Metalworking Shop at the Oberkirch Site Wins the Tournament

After the tournaments were finished — thankfully without any injuries — a prize-giving ceremony was held for the winners, with Occupational Health Manager Stefan Grözinger and tournament organizer Stephan Schütz on hand to make the presentations. “We are delighted that we have been able to come together and hold our amateur soccer tournament again after three years,” said Stephan Schütz, whose excitement was clear to see. He thanked all the teams for taking part and for their fair play. The teams were then called up in turn to accept wine and other gifts as a thank you for taking part. A souvenir photo was also taken at this point, as a nice memento of the day. The winning team “Metallbomber” from the metalworking shop at the Oberkirch site then took to the winner's podium to raise the trophy and celebrate their win. The celebratory atmosphere at the end of the event was testament to yet another successful tournament.

Yours sincerely
