A Gift-Giving Tradition Spanning Over 100 Years: Koehler Group Celebrates Its Annual Children’s Christmas Party
- Koehler’s Saint Nick gives gifts to 480 children
- Interactive show by “UNIKAT – Klavier und Stimme” from Offenburg
- A long-standing tradition for children of Koehler employees
This year, Koehler employees are getting to see their children excitedly look forward to meeting Saint Nick twice in December. More specifically, the first of those two times came on December 5th, when Koehler’s Saint Nick paid a visit to the company’s Christmas party to give gifts to all the little tykes. The Koehler Group organized its traditional children’s Christmas party with a fun show, songs meant to get into the spirit of Christmas, and plenty of gifts at the Erwin-Braun-Halle venue in Oberkirch, where all employees from its Kehl, Willstätt, Weisenbach, and Oberkirch sites were invited. On top of that, and for the first time ever, the company also organized another children’s Christmas party simultaneously at its Greiz site, where the Koehler Saint Nick also showed up to deliver his gifts to the little ones at that location.
An evening that will long be remembered
For over 100 years now, this event has been a vital part of the Koehler family’s traditions. The organizing team turned the venue in Oberkirch into a dazzling winter scene featuring Christmas trees, snow sheets, candy canes, and the smell of Christmas punch for kids filling the entire place with a joyful Christmas atmosphere. It was against this festive backdrop that Koehler’s Saint Nick and “UNIKAT – Gesang und Stimme” from Offenburg kept the kids and their parents thrilled throughout the evening. Not only that, but Koehler’s company band also invited the children to join in on a number of Christmas songs, including “O Tannenbaum” and other classics, so that their voices brightened up what was already a magical evening.
After Saint Nick opened the festivities, Finance and Administration Director Frank Lendowski and Group Works Council Chairman Gebhard Müller welcomed the children, who numbered around 480, and their parents: “Our Children’s Christmas Party is an important tradition here at Koehler, and one that has been near and dear to our hearts for decades now. We are delighted to see so many children and their parents showing up once again to ring in the festive season,” Lendowski said in his welcome speech.
The greeting was followed by an interactive show by “UNIKAT – Gesang und Stimme,” which included the eye-catching facial expressions of a confused mayor who did not know what the point of Christmas was. However, the surprise in the children’s eyes came to the rescue and helped the artists open up the mayor’s heart and get him to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
After words of farewell from Saint Nick at the end, a huge round of applause for everyone involved in the event brightened everyone’s hearts, with every child treasuring their gift and a chocolate Santa to go with it.
