KW automotive takes over all relevant BBS assets:
BBS light alloy wheels are rolling again
KW automotive, the owner of the BBS brand and the entire aftermarket business, has secured all relevant assets of the BBS plants in Schiltach and Herbolzheim (Germany) from the ongoing insolvency proceedings of BBS Autotechnik GmbH following constructive negotiations.
The acquired assets include tools and systems, production equipment, utility models, and existing inventories. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. 'BBS is a matter close to my heart. After the tough cuts of recent months, we are now creating the conditions for a fresh start,' says Klaus Wohlfarth, managing partner of KW automotive GmbH.
At the Schiltach site, these newly acquired resources will open up opportunities to further develop the vertical range of manufacturing and, consequently, enhance the overall manufacturing concept. Gaining full control over the plant’s assets enables the restart of a largely automated and digital production line, which has been in place since late 2023, with the goal of manufacturing BBS wheels quickly and flexibly.
In recent weeks, preparatory measures for the restart have been implemented within an extremely lean structure at the newly established wheel manufactory in Herbolzheim. Alongside the resumption of logistics processes at the Herbolzheim site, the recommissioning of the paint shop marks a significant milestone for the future business model. The primary focus will be on the aftermarket business under the BBS brand, ensuring that highly customized wheels can be reliably delivered to BBS enthusiasts at short notice.
The BBS of the future is built on the ideas and goals behind the innovative BBS Unlimited product range. 'The complexity of a wheel should not prevent us from offering every BBS fan and potential customer multiple options for suitable alloy wheels, which can also be fully customized in terms of design. This customer-centric approach, unique in our industry, will undoubtedly be a key to our future success,' continues Klaus Wohlfarth.
BBS Unlimited in Detail
Together, BBS and KW automotive have developed BBS Unlimited, a wheel system that is revolutionizing the light alloy wheel market with its unique product features. The innovative BBS light alloy wheel system seamlessly integrates various components, ensuring unparalleled handling and flexibility. BBS Unlimited wheels are available in a wide range of colors, sizes, rim widths, and concavities. A comprehensive selection of accessories also allows for personalized designs: BBS Unlimited wheels can be equipped with collision protection rings, hub caps, and valve caps in various colors. Additionally, high-quality titanium wheel bolts are available.
All BBS Unlimited wheels are manufactured using the flow-forming process and feature a bolt circle of 5x117.5 millimeters. Thanks to special BBS hub adapters and precision BBS centering rings, they can be fitted to nearly any vehicle model with a five-hole bolt pattern. This provides significant advantages for both customers and dealers. Specialist dealers can respond flexibly to varying requirements and offer the perfect wheel for every customer request, anytime.
Depending on the design, BBS Unlimited wheels are available in diameters of 19, 20, 21, and 22 inches. The available rim widths range from 8 to 12 inches and include variants such as 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, and 11.5 inches. For more information, visit www.bbs.com.
