SYSTEM LIFT AG emphasises focus on owner-managed community
Dornseiff Arbeitsbühnen GmbH and Ferdinand Scheurer GmbH to leave the group at the end of 2025
Isernhagen, 10.01.2025 – SYSTEM LIFT AG made a landmark decision at the beginning of the year: On 31 December 2025, the association will part ways with its previous partner companies Dornseiff Arbeitsbühnen GmbH and Ferdinand Scheurer GmbH, which belong to the DID Group. DID Managing Director Frank Scheidt and the management teams of the two partner companies were informed of this decision this week.
‘This step was not easy for us, but it is necessary in order to preserve the fundamental values as an association of owner-managed companies and to ensure the future strength and stability of our network,’ explains Malte Bilau, CEO of SYSTEM LIFT AG. Fellow board member Christopher Friedrich adds: ‘The Scheurer takeover by DID in 2020 was the first non-owner-managed company within the SYSTEM LIFT community. With the takeover of Dornseiff Arbeitsbühnen GmbH, which was completed last year, there is now a clear trend away from the purely owner-managed group of companies. This decision was therefore unavoidable, even if it was extremely difficult for us in view of the long-standing close relationships with Scheurer and Dornseiff.’ The Supervisory Board of SYSTEM LIFT AG fully supports this step. ‘The Management Board has made a difficult but correct decision in the interests of the community. SYSTEM LIFT stands for strong owner-managed companies,’ emphasises Fabian Markmann, Chairman of the SYSTEM LIFT Supervisory Board.
SYSTEM LIFT made the separation because the main shareholder of the DID Group, Aurelius Investments Limited, is a globally active investor in the private equity segment, among others. The main drive of a private equity investor is to sell a company portfolio through acquisitions and consolidation with value appreciation. ‘This approach harbours significant risks for the stability and long-term development of the community on several levels, and scenarios such as acquisitions by competitors could occur that are not in line with our overriding principles,’ emphasises Malte Bilau. Christopher Friedrich adds: ‘It is our task to act in the interests of the SYSTEM LIFT partner companies, to keep our association strong with an emphasis on our owner-managed identity and to protect it from potential risks with foresight.’
The cooperation with Dornseiff Arbeitsbühnen GmbH and Ferdinand Scheurer GmbH has always been fair and based on partnership. ‘This is why we have decided to separate with a long-term lead time, so that both sides can set the course and develop plans for the time after 31 December 2025,’ emphasises Christopher Friedrich.
