Munich, February 19, 2003. With an EBITDA of EUR 134 million, the ProSiebenSat.1 Group closed fiscal 2002 with a profit despite the lingering recession in the German television advertising market. According to preliminary figures, Germanys largest television company generated Group revenues of EUR 1.895 billion last year. This is equivalent to a reduction of 6% against 2001. With the distinct chill in the economy, the net television advertising market may well have shrunk as much as eight to ten percent in 2002. Though revenues were down EUR 120 million, stringent cost management cushioned the effects on the ProSiebenSat.1 Groups earnings. Group pre-tax income was EUR 21 million, EUR 85 million less than the year before. The income statement was additionally burdened by a number of exceptional factors, including the cost of broadcasting the Soccer World Cup and the planned merger with KirchMedia, cancelled in March. EBIT was EUR 73 million, down EUR 81 million from 2001. EBITDA reached EUR 134 million, following EUR 225 million the previous year. The consolidated net profit was EUR 15 million, following EUR 68 million. The Groups tax rate was 41%.
