DHL CARE Award für exzellente Transportleistungen geht an drei Frachtfluggesellschaften

Bonn, 21. Juni 2019: DHL Global Forwarding, der Luft- und Seefrachtspezialist von Deutsche Post DHL Group, hat Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, Swiss WorldCargo und Qatar Airways Cargo mit dem diesjährigen Carrier Award for Reliability and Excellence (CARE) ausgezeichnet. Der DHL CARE Award prämiert Luftfrachtanbieter, die mit ihren Leistungen Branchenstandards für den Transport von temperaturempfindlichen Life-Sciences-Produkten setzen. Die Ehrung der Gewinner übernahm Thomas Mack, Head of Global Air Freight, DHL Global Forwarding, im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie auf der 19. Life Sciences & Healthcare-Konferenz am 19. Juni 2019 in Miami.
"Der Transport lebensrettender Produkte birgt eine immense Verantwortung, deren Risiken bei weitem diejenigen in regulären Lieferketten übersteigen. Wir verstehen die Herausforderungen, die mit temperaturempfindlichen Produkten einhergehen, und die Notwendigkeit, eine ganzheitliche Palette von patientenorientierten Lösungen anzubieten, um sie sicher und zeitnah an ihren Bestimmungsort zu liefern", so Larry St Onge, President Life Sciences & Healthcare bei DHL.

Die Preisträger des 2016 erstmalig vergebenen DHL CARE Awards stehen für herausragende Leistungen bei Service, Qualität, Bodenabfertigung und Technologie- sowie Prozessinnovationen. Allen nominierten Frachtanbieter lagen im Rennen um den Award sehr dicht beieinander, wodurch das hohe Maß an Fachkompetenz und Servicequalität der Preisträger deutlich wird.

Unwetter, geopolitische Probleme und Pandemien zählen weiterhin zu den größten Herausforderungen und Risiken entlang von Lieferketten. Um erstklassige Dienstleistungen im Life-Science- und Gesundheitssektor anzubieten, investieren Carrier beständig in die Verbesserung ihrer pharmazeutischen Infrastruktur, ihrer Flotten und ihrer Qualitätsstandards. Gemeinsam mit den Frachtanbietern setzt DHL auf Datenanalysen und digitale Lösungen, um einen besseren Zugriff auf Infrastruktur, Fähigkeitsdaten sowie die wichtigsten Sendungsdaten zu erhalten. Zudem hat DHL in Tools wie Resilience360 investiert, eine digitale Plattform für das End-to-End Risikomanagement entlang der gesamten Lieferkette. So erhalten Kunden nahezu in Echzeit Informationen über Vorfälle und Risiken, die von Relevanz für ihre globalen Lieferketten sein könnten.

Die Anzahl der Zertifizierungen entlang der Good Distribution Practices (GDP), basierend auf den Richtlinien der Europäischen Union für den optimalen Umgang mit Arzneimitteln, sowie des Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) der International Air Transport Association (IATA) konnte im vergangenen Jahr weiter erfolgreich gesteigert werden. Zahlreiche Fluggesellschaften erwarten zudem eine Zertifizierung in naher Zukunft.

Im Jahr 2016 hat DHL begonnen, seine Niederlassungen gemäß IATA CEIV Pharma zertifizieren zu lassen. Seitdem wurden bereits mehr als 30 Stationen, nach erfolgreichen Mitarbeiterschulungen und externen Audits, nach dem CEIV Pharma Standard erfolgreich ausgezeichnet. DHL CARE Awards: three major air carriers distinguished at the Life Science and Healthcare Conference
- Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, Swiss WorldCargo and Qatar Airways Cargo recognized as industry leaders in transport of temperature-sensitive life sciences products by DHL - DHL's own Thermonet air freight service now includes more than 30 IATA CEIV certified network stations for vital medical products
Bonn/Miami, June 20, 2019: DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has awarded the 2019 Carrier Award for Reliability and Excellence (CARE) to Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, Swiss WorldCargo and Qatar Airways Cargo. The CARE Awards recognize the industry's top transporters of temperature-sensitive life sciences products. The winners were presented with an award by Thomas Mack, Head of Global Air Freight, DHL Global Forwarding, at the 19th Life Science and Healthcare Conference held in Miami on June 19, 2019.
"Transporting life-saving products is an immense responsibility, one with risks that far outweigh those in a typical supply chain environment. We understand the challenges that come with temperature-sensitive products and the imperative need to provide a holistic range of patient-centric solutions to deliver them in a safe and timely manner," said Larry St Onge, President, Global Life Sciences & Healthcare, DHL.

Recipients of the DHL CARE Award, which was first instituted back in 2016, offer exceptional service, quality, ground handling and innovative technologies and processes for their shipments. The differences in scores across all the carriers in the pool of nominees were extremely close, underlining the high level of expertise and service quality provided by the laureates.

"We have not only invested in the IATA CEIV re-certification, but we have innovated the product, providing transparency before, during and after the pharma journey, and we are constantly investing in our cool chain program. While we are receiving this award, at the same time at Schiphol, we are inaugurating our new enlarged 15+25 Control room. Because we care."
Risks in supply chains like inclement weather, geopolitical issues and pandemics are evermore an issue of concern. As carriers strive to provide best-in-class services in the life sciences and healthcare sector, they increasingly invest in improving their pharmaceutical infrastructure, fleet and quality standards. Together with carriers, DHL is leveraging data analytics and digitization to access infrastructure and capability data, along with the key shipment data. DHL has also invested in tools such as Resilience360, the first of its kind in the industry, which is an end-to-end supply chain risk management platform that alerts customers about global incidents and risks to their global supply chain in almost real time.

Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certifications, based on the European Union guidelines on how to best handle medicinal products, as well as the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have continued to increase in the last year, with many carriers also expecting certification in the near future.

With Thermonet, DHL's own temperature controlled air freight service for the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector, the Group delivers regulatory compliance and higher visibility throughout its own international network of GDP-certified life sciences stations for air and ocean freight. DHL began seeking certification for these stations by the IATA CEIV Pharma in 2016. Since then, over 30 stations have been CEIV Pharma certified, following successful employee training courses and third-party audits.
