Großbritannien, 19. August 2021: DHL Global Forwarding, der Luft- und Seefrachtspezialist von Deutsche Post DHL Group, hat die britische Non-Profit-Organisation Crown Agents beim erfolgreichen Transport von vier Millionen Covid-19-Impfdosen in 15 Länder unterstützt.
Wie der britische Außenminister Dominic Raab am 28. Juli verkündete, will Großbritannien mit der Spende der Vakzine einen Beitrag zur globalen Pandemiebekämpfung leisten. Die vier Millionen Dosen werden direkt an bedürftige Länder geliefert. Weitere fünf Millionen Impfdosen hat Großbritannien der globalen Impfstoffplattform COVAX angeboten, die sich für eine schnellere und gerechtere weltweite Verteilung der Vakzine einsetzt.

In enger Zusammenarbeit mit DHL haben wir sichergestellt, dass die Impfstoffe wohlbehalten an ihren Zielorten angekommen sind“, erklärt Fergus Drake, CEO von Crown Agents.
DHL Global Forwarding sorgte vor dem Lufttransport der Impfstoffe in die verschiedenen Länder auch für die Abholung der Impfdosen aus Einrichtungen in ganz Großbritannien. Eine besondere Herausforderung beim Versand von Impfstoffen sind die strengen Temperaturanforderungen. Daher wurden die Vakzine in spezielle aktiv regulierte Thermocontainer verpackt, um konstante Temperaturen auf dem Transportweg und an den Zielorten sicherzustellen, die nicht über die notwendige Infrastruktur zur Aufrechterhaltung der erforderlichen Temperatur verfügen. In allen Thermocontainern wurden Temperatursensoren mit hochentwickelter GPS-Technologie angebracht, um während des gesamten Transports volle Transparenz zu gewährleisten.
DHL hat bisher mehr als 731 Millionen Impfdosen in 153 Länder in aller Welt geliefert. Die in dieser Woche durchgeführten Transporte bilden einen weiteren Meilenstein in der weltweiten Pandemiebekämpfung. DHL ist stolz, eine aktive Rolle auf dem Weg in eine sichere neue Normalität für die von DHL bedienten Unternehmen und Gemeinden zu spielen – ganz im Einklang mit dem Unternehmensleitsatz „Menschen verbinden, Leben verbessern“.

Dabei müssen auch die rund drei Milliarden Menschen erreicht werden, die in Regionen mit einer weniger gut entwickelten Logistikinfrastruktur leben. Um in den nächsten zwei Jahren eine weltweite Versorgung mit COVID-19-Vakzinen sicherzustellen, werden rund 200.000 Palettenlieferungen, 15 Millionen Lieferungen in Kühlboxen sowie 15.000 Flüge in den unterschiedlichen Lieferketten erforderlich sein – so die Schätzung von DHL in seinem Whitepaper zur Impfstofflogistik.

DHL Global Forwarding supports Crown Agents in the delivery of
4 million COVID-19 vaccines to 15 countries
- Four million vaccines donated by the UK bilaterally to help tackle COVID-19 abroad
- Indonesia, Jamaica and Kenya are among the countries that have received donations
London/United Kingdom, August 19, 2021: DHL Global Forwarding, Deutsche Post DHL Group's air and ocean freight specialist, has supported the British not-for-profit organisation Crown Agents in the successful delivery of four million COVID-19 vaccine doses to 15 countries.
The vaccines were donated by the United Kingdom to help tackle the pandemic, as announced by UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on 28 July. The four million doses will be shared directly with countries in need. Another five million doses have been offered by the UK to the COVAX global vaccine sharing scheme that aims to accelerate global equitable access to immunisation against the pandemic.

DHL Global Forwarding arranged for the collection of the vaccines from facilities across the UK before forwarding them to the respective countries by air. One of the key challenges in the shipment of the vaccine is the stringent temperature requirement. The doses were therefore shipped in special active thermal containers to ensure consistent temperatures in transit and in locations that lack the physical infrastructure to otherwise maintain the required temperature. Temperature trackers equipped with sophisticated GPS technology were also fitted within each active container to provide full visibility throughout the entire journey.
To date, DHL has transported more than 731 million vaccine doses to 153 countries worldwide. The shipments completed now mark another milestone in combatting the spread of COVID-19 worldwide.
