Company Information/PWO awarded for outstanding commitment to social issues
Oberkirch (euro adhoc) - June 8, 2011 - Progress-Werk Oberkirch AG has been distinguished for its outstanding commitment to Diakonie/Caritas facilities as part of the "gemeinsam gewinnen" ("Winning Together") action group. The action group is carried by Caritas, Diakonie Baden and the Baden-Württemberg Association of Cooperatives (Baden-Württembergischer Genos-senschaftsverband). The award pays tribute to PWO's commitment to Caritas social projects over the last three years.
Karl M. Schmidhuber, PWO's CEO, underscored the significance of PWO's social commitment: "We feel highly committed to the regions where we operate. Over and beyond our company's direct economic interests, we are obligated to societal and community values. Everybody gains from a culture of solidarity - people, regions and companies. Therefore, social commitment comprises a key component of PWO's corporate model."
Bernd Bartmann, Management Board member responsible for PWO's commercial and HR areas, made the following remarks on the company's overall commitment: "For the last three years, we have been offering our trainees and our dual further education students eight to ten different projects per year with a focus in each case on craft, organisational or social areas. Around 70 of our young employees are currently responsible for individual projects in their free time as part of a fixed contract with a social facility. Progress-Werk Oberkirch AG also directly fulfils its social responsibility in the region in various ways."
