Why CORSIA is unlikely to generate any actual emission reductions
Dear press colleagues,
Researchers at Oeko-Institut and Adelphi question the environmental benefits of a new UN program to address international aviation emissions - the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
Our blog post analyses why CORSIA is unlikely to generate any actual emission reductions in its initial phase from 2021 to 2023, why its rules for forestry carbon credits are particularly flawed, and what the implications the COVID-19 crisis might have.
