Nordex AG has successfully returned to the world´s largest growth market for wind energy, having signed a major contract in the United States with BP Alternative Energy North America Inc. for the delivery of 60 N90/2500 kW turbines. The contract for the delivery and installation of the systems includes five years of service.
"We are pleased that BP has included our turbine to further accelerate the growth of their US wind portfolio," says Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG. Nordex has already installed roughly 500 of these turbines all around the world for different customers - as well as in the United States for the first time in summer 2007. BP has prior experience with Nordex turbines. Since 2002, nine Nordex N80/2500 kW systems have been in operation at a BP´s refinery in the Netherlands.
Nordex will deliver the first turbines in the second quarter of 2009. At the moment, Nordex is making preparations to build up its own production facilities in the United States during the next two years in order to be ready for further supplies to the U.S. and Canada.
Says Pedersen: "A follow-up contract is always good evidence of a customer´s faith in our products and services. A contract awarded by BP Alternative Energy North America Inc. has particular importance for our US subsidiaries as BP is a leading developer in this market."
