fluxx.com takes over international online-bookmaker - 85.5% participation in the Austrian Interjockey.com Horsebet Ges. mbH - online-bookmaker for international horse races - worid-wide market volume for betting on horses: 171 bn DM p.a.
fluxx.com e-commerce GmbH, Kiel, a 100% subsidiary of fluxx.com AG, has taken over a majority interest in Interjockey.com Horsebet Ges. mbH. The internet-bookmakers located in Lustenau, Austria have a betting licence for the federal State Vorarlberg and thus offer the possibility to place bets world-wide at international horseracing events via the web-address www.interjockey.com. The takeover and the resulting purchase of the licence mean that fluxx.com have secured themselves an additional important part of the online-betting value chain.
The annual volume of betting on horse racing worldwide amounts to 171 bn DM, whereby ca. 82% of these bets are placed off-course. The largest horse-betting markets are all countries where internet penetration is already far advanced. The top position is held by Japan with a value of 66 bn DM (38.5% of the world-wide total turnover), followed by the USA with 26 bn DM (15.4%) and Hong Kong with 17.3 bn DM (10.3%), Great Britain (8.3%), Australia (7%) and France (6.4%). The German market, with a share of only 0.5%, is open for development.
"Our commitment to Interjockey.com means that we gain access to the highly lucrative international horse betting market", said Rainer Jacken, CEO of fluxx.com AG. "Next to the gambling platform jaxx.de, which targets German internet users, we have now made a decisive step towards the world-wide online gambling market. Offical studies anticipate about 2.5% of the market volume of betting on horses to be carried out via the internet by the year 2002 - that means a mid-term potential of 4.3 bn DM."
In December of last year, fluxx.com AG announced the takeover of horses.de Pferdesport-Service GmbH. horses.de is the only official betting office of the German horse-racecourses on the internet.
The 85.5% majority interest in Interjockey.com Horsebet Ges. mbH has been approved by the fluxx.com AG Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board.
