Exploiting innovative key technologies in the electronics sector - this is the goal AUDI AG is pursuing with the establishment of the fully-owned subsidiary "Audi Electronics Venture GmbH" in the third quarter of 2001. The company will be based in Ingolstadt and have a share capital of ¤500,000.
"Strategic alliances make it possible to achieve and maintain the competitive edge," explained the Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen. By way of partnerships, participations or joint ventures, especially with small, flexible high-tech companies, the new company's task will be to further strengthen Audi's expertise in the electronics sector, e.g. in the field of semiconductor design or data bus interfaces, concentrate know-how and contribute to the realisation of a "modern electronics architecture".
Audi is currently presenting ground-breaking developments in the electronics sector at an electronics auditorium in Munich. For example, essential components of the new control concept Audi MMI (Multi Media Interface), which will also be exhibited at this year's International Motor Show in Frankfurt, are being presented here.
Audi is an international developer and manufacturer of high-quality cars. In 2000 the company sold more than 650,000 Audi models. The sales revenues of the Audi Group totalled DM 39 billion. The Audi Group currently has more than 50,000 employees.
