Vienna/Frankfurt, 10.12.2009:The board of F&C Asset Management plc ("F&C") notificated the board of C-QUADRAT Investment AG pursuant to Sec 5 para (2) Austrian Takeover Act. The board of F&C Asset Management plc ("F&C") notes the recent press speculation regarding its possible interest in C-QUADRAT Investment AG ("C-QUADRAT") (ISIN: AT0000613005).
F&C confirms that it is currently considering the possibility of making a public takeover offer to the shareholders of C-QUADRAT and that F&C is in exploratory discussions with the management board of C-QUADRAT.
These discussions are preliminary in nature and at present there can be no certainty that any transaction will occur. Should the discussions continue, F&C will file within the applicable period set by the Austrian Takeover Act an application for extension of the time period for notification of the bid and for submitting the offer documents to the Takeover Commission. If any offer is made, such offer would need to satisfy the requirements of the Austrian Takeover Act (including as to price).
A further announcement will be made in due course.
