FRANK SARFELD TO JOIN BERTELSMANN AG'S CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

Frank Sarfeld (36), currently Senior Vice President Corporate Communications for the Bertelsmann eCommerce Group (BeCG), with headquarters in New York and Hamburg, will be joining Bertelsmann AG's Corporate Communications (headed by Manfred Harnischfeger) on August 15, 2001. As Vice President Media Relations and member of the spokesperson group, he will devote himself primarily to intensifying international press and economic relations.
Sarfeld's knowledge of Bertelsmann and his wealth of professional experience in New Economy and Internet communications will serve him well in his new position. Sarfeld reports to Senior Vice President Media Relations and Chief Press Officer Oliver Herrgesell.
In addition to the above-mentioned colleagues, the spokesperson group also includes Susanne Erdl and Oliver Fahlbusch.
