Basler Vision Technologies welcomed the news that Matsushita Media Manufacturing - a joint venture of Panasonic Disc Services Corp. and Eastman Kodak - have decided to equip the new production plants in Youghal (Ireland) and Guadalajara (Mexico) with inspection systems from the Ahrensburg-based high-tech company. This will increase the share of DVD inspection systems in incoming orders of the Optical Media Inspection business unit of Basler to approx. 66 per cent. A clear indication of the enormous growth forecast of the DVD format.
"The co-operation with Matsushita again enhances our market leadership on the DVD inspection market," says Dr. Dietmar Ley, Chief Executive of Basler AG. "The decisive factor for the awarding of this order was the intense co-operation in the engineering field plus the reliable after-sales support by Basler world-wide."
The new facilities in Ireland and Mexico add to the existing capacity at Torrance, California and Pinckneyville, Illinois, making Panasonic Disc Services Corp. and Matsushita Media Manufacturing one of the largest DVD producers in the world.
