München (euro adhoc) - Munich, December 12, 2007 - At today's regular meeting of Wacker Chemie AG's supervisory board, important decisions were made to ensure the continuity of the leadership of the company. Dr. Karl Heinz Weiss, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, who will reach the age limit for supervisory board members will no longer be available after the next upcoming Annual General Meeting on May 8th, 2008. At the same time Dr. Peter-Alexander Wacker will step down from his function as President and Chief Executive Officer of Wacker Chemie AG and will run for the position of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board welcomes the decisions and sees the long term strategic direction of the company assured.
Dr. Rudolf Staudigl will be successor to Peter-Alexander Wacker as President and Chief Executive Officer of Wacker Chemie AG. He is a member of WACKER's Management Board since 1995. During today's session, the Supervisory Board prolonged Staudigl's contract for another 5 years. Staudigl will assume the role of President & CEO after the next Annual General Meeting.
Karl Heinz Weiss, Chairman of the Supervisory Board said: "Peter-Alexander Wacker steered the company into a new direction in its more than 90 years history. Peter was instrumental in driving the strategic realignment of WACKER, the reorganization of the ownership structure and the successful initial public offering. His valuable experience will continue to be available to the company in the Supervisory Board."
The designated CEO, Rudolf Staudigl said:" WACKER Chemie AG is very well positioned and has lots of promising growth potentials. Under my leadership the company will continue its successful strategic course."

With regards to the current Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Wacker said: "Wacker Chemie AG owes a lot to Karl Heinz Weiss. During his 36 year membership in WACKER's Supervisory Board, 20 of them as Chairman, he actively participated in shaping the company's presence and future."
Dr. Karl Heinz Weiss will continue to serve as the Speaker of the Board for WACKER's majority shareholder, Dr. Alexander Wacker Familiengesellschaft mbH.
Dr. Rudolf Staudigl (54) studied chemistry at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, obtaining his Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat) in 1981. After post-doctoral research at Harvard University (Cambridge, USA) and Ludwig Maximilian University, he joined Wacker Siltronic AG in 1983. He became Vice President of Operations at Wacker Siltronic Corporation (Portland, Oregon, USA) in 1989 and President a year later. He joined the Executive Board of Wacker Siltronic AG in 1993. In 1995, he was appointed to Wacker Chemie GmbH's Executive Board. Since November 2005, Rudolf Staudigl has been an Executive Board member of Wacker Chemie AG.
After gaining a degree in business administration and a Ph.D. (Dr. rer. pol.), Dr. Peter-Alexander Wacker (56) started his career at BMW AG in 1978. His responsibilities included group planning and strategic product planning. In 1992, he founded TMG, a technology and management consultancy and, in 1993, also joined the Supervisory Board of Wacker Chemie GmbH. He became a member of Wacker Chemie's Executive Board in 1996 and Chairman in 2001. Since No-vember 2005, he has been President & CEO of Wacker Chemie AG.
