The first nine months of 2000
have been a further period of success for United Internet AG. Sales
of affiliates belonging to the United Internet network rose by 82.5
percent over the same period last year to reach EUR 170.8 million.
The consolidated sales figure for the Group's majority shareholdings
grew by 63 percent to EUR 138.6 million.

After adjustment for non-cash relevant items concerning employee
profit-sharing programs, at-equity losses and goodwill amortization
included under US-GAAP accounting, the result from ordinary
activities amounted to EUR -8.8 million. This figure includes losses
incurred by GMX, which are fully consolidated for the first time in
2000. In a direct comparison of the consolidated figures for the same
period last year (without GMX), earnings for the first nine months
improved from EUR -5.0 million to EUR -2.7 million. DVFA-based
earnings per share amounted to EUR -0.41, or EUR -0.21 after
elimination of goodwill amortization. The Group's losses result
mainly from the rapid implementation of its international expansion
program. With a current total of 39 offices in 16 European countries,
the companies belonging to the United Internet network have
strengthened their European presence considerably.
